Plettenberg Bay, tucked neatly into the Garden Route, is renowned the world over for its spectacular beauty; from vantage points over impossibly golden beaches and dense green forests to vistas of awe-inspiring mountains.

Here are five of the best views in Plettenberg Bay

The Plettenberg

The Plettenberg is situated on a rocky headland overlooking Formosa Bay, the Outeniqua Mountains, and miles of golden sand. Enjoy this postcard view from the comfort of your suite; while taking a dip in the infinity pool; relaxing on the terrace with a cocktail or two—or while dining at SeaFood at The Plettenberg. The possibilities are endless, just like the views.
Tip: Book The Lookout Villa, which offers guests a view of magical sunrises, pods of whales breaching in the winter months and dolphins swimming by throughout the year.

Lookout Beach

The ultimate beach for sunsets and sunrises. The sun rises from across the bay and behind the Tsitsikamma Mountains, often with the effect of turning the lagoon pink.

Whale Tail

Perched on a small rise, looking out over the Lookout and Keurbooms Beaches, the Whale Tail bench is carved in the shape of a whale’s tail and is a great place to enjoy the view, often with sightings of marine life.

Kranshoek View Point

The walk begins in the Kruisfontein State Forest and features coastal escarpment dotted with fynbos and rocky beach. Follow the white footprints painted on trees and rocks.

The 3 circular hikes all offer stunning vistas across the bay towards the Tsitsikamma Mountains and along the Harkerville coastline towards Knysna. Not to mention abundant marine life.
