What is life but one grand adventure?
South Africa’s Overberg is the ultimate natural arena for adventure lovers. Within its incredibly scenic borders expect a plethora of land-based activities such as mountain biking, trail running, fat bike tours, horse riding, hiking, abseiling, archery and more.
At the heart of this diverse Western Cape landscape—one with towering mountains, milkwood forests, sweeping canola fields and rugged coastlines—lies The Marine on the cliff paths of Walker Bay. This historic hotel dates back to the very origins of the town of Hermanus itself, its graceful bones have been built on the thrill of coastal adventure.
Hermanus and the wider Overberg region offer a variety of routes to enjoy fresh mountain air and the spectacular scenery. At Fernkloof Nature Reserve try the circular MTB route of around 15 kilometres, which can be joined at any point. Don’t have your own equipment? You can hire mountain bikes through Walker Bay Adventures; or alternatively join in on one of their tours.
Fat Bike Tours
Jump on a fat bike and cruise along beaches and across mammoth sand dunes. Explore caves and swim in the sea along the way. The tours are documented on video for participants to keep for posterity.
