Sand Kitchen The Sand kitchen is managed by head chef Gideon Landman, with Annerie Carstens and Brian Ng as his sous chefs. The Eclectic mix of local chefs makes for a very flamboyant and vibrant team, whos work ethic and persuit of perfection is hard to find elsewhere. Being less than a stones throw away from the best surfing spot in the area, its no wonder there are so many enthusiasts in the kitchen. Fish is obviously of high importance in the kitchen; this was never more apparent about a month ago when a waiter brought a live blow fish or ‘fugu’ into the kitchen- which had been fished out of the hotel’s swimming pool. The fugu ,one of the oceans most deadly fish, was dropped into the pool after the seagul realised what it was. One drop of the poison from the liver can kill 8 men, so it was gravely important this fish was identified and set free. One of the many fishing stories emenating from this amazing seaside hotel.
